MS Europa 2

Chelsom were commissioned to supply all of the public area lighting on board Hapag-Lloyd Cruises newest addition to the fleet, the luxury 5- star plus all suite MS Europa 2.

Having worked closely with the design team at PSD to create a unique lighting scheme that enhances the striking contemporary interior concept, Chelsom are incredibly proud to claim that a number of the custom designed show-stopping fittings onboard were entirely “Made in Blackpool” demonstrating not only their ability to bring a designer’s vision to reality but above all else showcasing their superior engineering capabilities.

Stand out fittings include a magnificent 3.48 metre diameter ceiling structure in the void of the ship with LED light sources and clear acrylic downlight tubes. An ‘exploding sun’ glass chandelier takes pride of place in the main restaurant. The structure itself is extremely complex, beautifully engineered and strong enough to support the weight of all this glass in maritime conditions. Mouth blown, handmade Venetian glass spirals have bonded metal inserts at the back and are threaded onto the frame for stability and security. Interspersed between the spirals are glass balls.  The glasses were made in amethyst, rose and red and are illuminated by halogen light sources.
