Since 1947 Chelsom has successfully designed and created quality decorative lighting for the international hotel, cruise ship and commercial contract markets.

History

It was 1947 when Reg and Kay Chelsom opened their small antique lighting shop in Blackpool under the name ‘The Golden Age’. Soon progressing to three shops, they began to manufacture reproduction period lighting which they distributed to retailers and interior designers throughout the UK. Their son and current Chairman, Robert Chelsom, took over in the 1970s and led the company to the forefront of the hospitality lighting industry. Since his son Will Chelsom joined in 2006, great strides have been made in the marine industry and in exports which now account for over half of the company’s turnover. Today, Chairman Robert and Managing Director Will work closely together on designing our highly respected lighting collections. We are truly a global family business.

Design

Good product DESIGN is at the forefront of everything we do at Chelsom. We appreciate that in order to stand out in our global marketplace, we must constantly innovate with design. Led by Robert and Will Chelsom, our in-house design team continuously strives to redefine our lighting collections by reacting to the ever-changing demands and trends that exist within the global hospitality and marine interiors sectors.
Our product design is not limited to aesthetics and should incorporate function, durability, the latest technology and value engineering.
The Chelsom design ethos is reflected in our latest collections and all custom and bespoke design concepts are welcomed.

Manufacturing

Technology

Never before has technology played such an important role in decorative lighting. Although, at Chelsom, it is product aesthetics that drives our design ethos, we truly understand that this needs to coexist with the ever evolving technical landscape. Our fast-paced client base demands that we constantly have access to the latest technologies available so that our lighting products can better enhance an interior space. Whether discussing complex dimming requirements, guest room control compliance, international regulatory certification or researching low energy lighting solutions, our experienced technical team can be on hand to meet with you and help.

Environment

We have a strong commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and are focussed on ensuring that Chelsom can become a sustainable business. Whether addressing energy consumption, supply chain management, travel and transport, materials and resources, or waste management, we have various policies in place to make sure that our impact on the environment is continuously reduced. We have teamed up with various entities to help us on our journey to becoming carbon efficient and a much cleaner business.
