Magnificent chandeliers dating back to 1904 were fully restored as part of the refurbishment of the former Midlothian County Building, now fully reclaimed as the Council Chambers for the registration of births, deaths and marriages. After restoration, the fittings were rewired and refitted with energy efficient lamps, to bring them into line with the council’s conservation policy.
