LIVERPOOL TOWN HALL

Liverpool Town Hall

PROJECT: Liverpool Town Hall

CLIENT: Liverpool City Council

To comply with legislation, Liverpool Town Council commissioned Chelsom to put together a lighting scheme that would greatly improve the environment for the visually impaired visitor within the Town Hall, Liverpool’s finest Georgian building.

The Disabled Discrimination Act required a lux level of between 300-500 lux to increase safety and comfort in public buildings, whereas the original levels varied between 70-100 lux therefore well below the recommended guidelines for public areas. The specified levels were easily achieved by the use of modified architectural pendants in the main public areas which featured high output metal halide uplight together with diffused low energy downlight.

Manufactured using cast polished brass with highest quality opal acrylic diffusers, these elegant luminaires enhance the period interior by complementing rather than competing with the architecture.
